Land Sea and Islands Centre
Details
The Visitor Centre in Arisaig houses an interesting collection of books, photographs, artefacts and exhibits illustrating the social, cultural and natural history of the area. There is a display about the Scottish artist, Jemima Blackburn (1823 - 1909), who became an important illustrator and watercolourist of the period. Her work included depictions of local people, landscape and wildlife (particularly birds). There is also an interesting exhibit on the importance of the Rough Bounds in World War II as a commando training site, a film about the Small Isles, and a traditional, interactive display on natural history of the land and sea. There is a small entrance charge.
An interersting stop off if visiting Arisaig whilst in staying in Moidart, Ardnamurchan, Morvern or Morar.
