Saturday 24th February, Saturday 24th March and Friday 20th April 2018 between 09:00 and 15:00. Drop in/out whenever you like.
Glen Nevis Visitor Centre, Car park, Contemplation wood (Grid Ref NN125730)
How long do Blue tits live for in the wild?
Where do birds such as Swallows go in the winter?...
Do bird population go up and down each year?
Most of these questions have been answered because of bird ringers putting uniquely numbered metal rings on wild birds’ legs. Join John Owen, experienced licenced BTO bird ringer, in Glen Nevis, to see what birds he can catch. John will explain why and how we ring birds safely. If conditions are right, there will be a chance to see wild birds up close and then watch the birds be released back into the wild.
Kids are very much welcome, accompanied by an appropriate adult.
Please could dogs be kept away from the bird ringing site.
The event is weather dependent and the birds’ welfare comes first. Windy and rainy conditions will mean the event may be cancelled at short notice.
Warm, waterproof clothing and stout footwear are best.
